(HER)story: Writing Women Back into the History of the Anglican Reformation

For many years, historians of the English Reformation focused on the organizational efforts by the regime and Church, places in society relegated almost exclusively to men. The dawning of the 21st century brought about an interest in women and their place within the evangelical rank and file. The purpose of this blog is to serve as an aggregator for original research, book reviews and other information about Tudor women in their roles as patrons, writers, and drivers of religious change.

This project started out as a paper for an undergraduate research writing class. This project was only intended to be a ten page objective view of Anne Boleyn's role in religious reformation in England. That essay has morphed into an interest in all things having to do with early modern English history. The Tudor era has become a playground for my academic work. Follow my journey here as I explore the lives of incredible English women.
