So this past month I have read many great books, but my favorite is definitely:
The Secret Keeper: A Novel of Kateryn Parr By Sandra Byrd
This is a fantastic book told from the perspective of Juliana St. John, lady in waiting to Queen Kateryn who was the last of Henry's wives. It speculates on what happened to Kateryn's daughter Mary Seymour who disappeared following her mother's death. I definitely recommend it!

Hey Tanya,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking the time to read and review my book. I truly appreciate it!
Sandra!
ReplyDeleteI confess, I had a bit of a starstruck moment when I read your comment. Thank you for checking out my blog! I love your books (I also read and reviewed To Die For. Your writing brings the Tudor characters to life and I refer all of my history nerd friends to your books!
Hi Tanya,
ReplyDeleteI was reading this book today and I wondered what is childbed fever?
Hi Alicia! Childbed fever, as it was called in 16th century is Puerperal Fever. It is a bacterial infection contracted during childbirth. The infection becomes deadly when it mutates into septicaemia. In most cases the infection was caused by the doctors and midwives themselves who were not aware that handwashing and sterilization were necessary during labor and delivery. The disease killed Jane Seymour as well as Kateryn Parr. Thanks for the inquiry.
