On the Hunt!
For all of you who are as "Anne Obsessed" as I am, you know how frustrating untruths about her life and death can be; especially when made by those who should, due to their education and experience, know better. I am enclosing tonight a three part video produced by BBC. I encourage you to watch it and see if you can hunt up their mistakes. Give it a go and comment me with your thoughts!

I haven't even watched it yet, but isn't her name spelt Anne, not Ann?
ReplyDeleteFirst of all; thank you for the invite and your comment on my blog! The Tudors is indeed historically inaccurate, but nevertheless satisfying ;)
ReplyDeleteI believe Eustace Chapuys referred to Anne as "the Concubine" not "the King's Mistress".
I also think Anne herself asked to be beheaded in the French fashion, it wasn't the King's decision. Although he was kind enough to allow it.
Anne did not stay in the Royal Apartments, whether they believe that is in today's White Tower or the Liutenant's Lodgings, she was staying in the Queen's Lodgings south east of the White Tower which is now, sadly, demolished.
She did not wear yellow, she wore grey for her execution and not the headdress she wears in this video.
I can't see where the scaffold is located, but it is a common mistake to believe it was on Tower Green, it was actually built just north of the White tower, at least for most executions.
Mikaela,
DeleteI too love the Tudors and even though the facts are a little skewed I really enjoy how they presented it! Anne's character is so well developed and just how I picture her :) I am so glad you noticed all the inaccuracies that I did! It especially bothered me about the execution scene, I am not sure why, probably because yellow was a color of celebration that it really stuck out as wrong. Thanks for joining and I look forward to chatting with you soon!
